Ubuntu Keyboard Shortcuts



These are ubuntu keyboard shortcuts, i think learning these keyboard shortcuts will help us a lot when working with ubuntu, it can makes your live easier.

Launcher related keyboard shortcuts
Keyboard Shortcut Function
Super (hold) Open the Launcher, display shortcuts.
ALT + F1 Open Launcher keyboard navigation mode.
Super + Tab Switches application via the Launcher.
Super + 1 to 9 Same as clicking on Launcher icon.
Super + Shift + 1 to 9 Open a new window in the app.
Super + T Open the Trash.


Dash related keyboard shortcuts
Keyboard Shortcut Function
Super (tap) Open the Dash Home.
Super + A Open the Dash App Lens.
Super + F Open the Dash Files Lens.
Super + M Open the Dash Music Lens.
Super + C Open the Dash Photo Lens.
Super + V Open the Dash Video Lens.
Ctrl + Tab Switches between Lenses.
Arrow Keys Move the focus.
Enter Opens the currently focused items.


HUD & Menu Bar related keyboard shortcuts
Keyboard Shortcut Function
Alt (Tap) Open the HUD.
Alt (Hold) Reveals the application menu.
Alt + F10 Open the indicator menu.
Cursor Left or Right Moves focus between indicators.
Print Take a screenshot.
Alt + Print Take a screenshot of the current window.


Switching related keyboard shortcuts
Keyboard Shortcut Function
Alt + Tab Switches between applications.
Alt + ` Switches windows of current applications.
Cursor Left or Right Moves the focus.
Cursor Up or Down Enter/Exit from spread mode or select windows.
Alt + Q Closes the selected application/window.

Window related keyboard shortcuts
Keyboard Shortcut Function
Super + W Spreads all windows.
Ctrl + Super + W Spreads all window of the focused application.
Ctrl + Super + D Minimises all windows.
Ctrl + Super + Up Maximises the current window.
Ctrl + Super + Down Restores or minimises the current window.
Ctrl + Super + Left or Right Semi-maximise the current window.
Alt + F4 Closes the current window.
Alt + Space Opens the window accessibility menu.
Ctrl + Alt + Num (keypad) Places the window in corresponding position.
Alt + Left Mouse DragMoves the window.
Alt + Middle Mouse Drag Resize the window.
