How to Install Kdenlive 17.12.0 Video Editor on Ubuntu 17.04, 17.10

    Kdenlive is an open source video editor. The project was started around 2003. Kdenlive is built on Qt and the KDE Frameworks libraries. Most of the video processing is done by the MLT Framework, which relies on many other open source projects like FFmpeg, frei0r, movit, ladspa, sox, etc…

Kdenlive 17.12.0 Changelog:

• Remove useless audio bitrate on pcm proxy encoding.
• Update proxy profiles.
• Make sure playlist proxies have an even height.
• Fix crash on playlists concurrent jobs using library clips.
• Timeline preview fixes: Don’t invalidate on expand/collapse effect, invalidate on master clip edit.
• Don’t restart clip if trying to play backwards from clip monitor end.
• Use smaller size for image proxies.
• Fix playing backwards forwards one second.
• Fix extension in transcode file dialog.

Installation instructions: 

    You can install the Kdenlive 17.12.0 from PPA, simply run  of commands in terminal.

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kdenlive/kdenlive-stable $ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install kdenlive

Install via package if PPA is not up to date

• Download the Linux appimage file
• Right-click on the file and click properties.

• Click on Permissions tab and check the box to make it executable

• Then run the file as it does not require any installation

$ sudo apt install ffmpeg dvgrab dvdauthor genisoimage vlc
