How to Upgrade Ubuntu 16.10 to Ubuntu 17.04

   Ubuntu 17.04, code named Zesty Zapus, is the future release that will succeed Ubuntu 16.10 and even though it’s End of life date has been scheduled for January 2018, the development team aims to bring a lot of upgrades, fixes, and additions in this release.



   Its final release has been scheduled for the 13th of April 2017.

Upgrade to Ubuntu 17.04 from Ubuntu 16.10

Before getting started, you need to do some preparations:
1. Backup of important data, bookmarks, and other user documents.
2. Remove or disable third-party repositories.

Launch Software & Updates utility, navigate to Other Software tab, and remove /disable all third-party repositories.


3. Choose download from ‘Main Server’ in Software & Updates utility.

4. Make your system up-to-date by running command in terminal:


$ sudo apt-get update && apt-get full-upgrade
 

After all, launch Update Manager via the command below and it will prompt that Ubuntu 17.04 is available after checking for updates:


$ sudo update-manager -d


Click the Upgrade and confirm in the next dialog, follow the wizard util done.
